A SPEECH BY MR. BEKOE MARK YIRENKYI, HEADMASTER, TO MARK THE 31ST SPEECH AND PRIZE-GIVING DAY OF CREATOR SCHOOLS, TEMA.
Honourable Chairperson for this august occasion, Pastor Evelyn Gyampa Markin, The Managing Director of Creator Schools, Mrs. Henrietta Aning, The Director in Charge of our iconic Preschool Department, Management team members present, Our Esteemed Guest Speaker, Revered clergy persons present and other guests herein seated, PTA Executive Members, Noble facilitators, Representatives of sister schools, far and near, Valued parents, Members of the Creator Old Students’ Association, CROSA, Our passing out class of 2026 students, precious continuing learners, Ladies and gentlemen. Accept my fraternal greetings this morning, as I also gladly acknowledge the presence of two stalwart retiring school leaders, Mr. Daniel Amuah, my indefatigable predecessor and Mrs. Agnes Aryeteye, the immediate past Coordintor of our Preschool 1 Department.
Ladies and gentlemen. Today marks yet another important milestone in the history of Creator Schools in that it is the occasion of the 31st Speech and Prize-Giving Day of the school ; A day on which our school celebrates our learners who distinguished themselves intellectually and morally and a day on which we eulogise our work force who went the extra mile in the discharge of their duties ; a day on which we showcase snipets of our talent-unearthing extra-curricular performances in honour of our august guests and parents ; a day on which we take stock of the major successes we chalked and to also lay bare some modicum of challenges which bedevilled us as a school during the academic year.
Above all, today is a day on which we officially welcome our bubbly preschoolers from Nursery 2 into our mainstream basic education school environment on this compound for the academic year, 2026/2027 as we also bid an emotional farewell to our 2026 graduating class of JHS 3 students who are waiting with baited breath to begin their voyage to their various SHS and TVET institutions a couple of weeks from now.
Distinguished audience. Acting on the authority of the institutional mandate conferred on me as the Headmaster of this great school, I hereby present an abbreviated report on the health of the school in respect of this ending academic year, 2025/26. May I crave your indulgence to hang on my lips.
Mr. Chairman. Our theme for today’s ceremony is PURSUING EXCELLENCE THROUGH INTEGRITY AND HARD WORK, a theme that is not only in tandem with our core values, but also one that galvanizes the school into action beyond today’s programme. Without the least intention to veer into some areas which I believe our widely-read guest speaker will be highlighting in her address, I wish to posit that hardwork and integrity are like conjoined twins who cannot be easily separated surgically because they share some vital internal organs. Unfortunately, these twin virtues are increasingly becoming as scarce as a hen’s teeth within the fabric of our Ghanaian society today. As the saying goes, “Hard work does not kill” and “The only place where success comes before work is in the dictionary”.
Through our merit-based academic assessment architecture and termly ability grouping strategies, coupled with scripture-based admonitions at our weekly worship programmes, individual or group counselling activities, words of praise at assembly for exemplary conducts exhibited by learners, and strong teacher examples, we psyche up our learners and imbibe in them, the traits of hardwork and integrity, bearing in mind that the welfare of the child is supreme.
At Creator Schools, ladies and gentlemen, we reward hardwork as we will be doing today across academic, ethical and professional boundaries. It is our cherished goal also that our students continue to work hard and become relevant global ambassadors of the school, in line with our vision statement which positions the school to be “An outstanding school that transforms minds and hearts for excellent academic and moral standards in all spheres of life”
SCHOOL ACTIVITIES/PROGRAMMES DURING THE ACADEMIC YEAR Distinguished guests. It gives me profound joy to report that a lion’s share of the programmes and activities which we planned for the academic year were vigorously pursued to a successful end.
Besides the excellent lesson delivery benchmarks which some other facilitators have achieved in other subject areas during the year, it is important to state that some key performance indicators on the school’s academic calendar for the year were realized. These include students’ sensitization programmes on learning strategies and proper handwriting, Inter-Class/Club Quiz Competitions, Leadership Seminars for learners, a special initiative whose implementation falls directly under the remit of the office of the MD, club meetings, peer teaching, Facilitators’ assessment reports Appraisal Meetings, Field trips and excursions, class-based Subject Conferences, Weekly worship activities, sports festivals and Current Affairs programmes, among others. Management commends our facilitators across the board for their warm participation in these activities.
INSPECTIONS BY REGULATORY AGENCIES During the period under scrutiny, some regulatory agencies like the Ghana Education Service, The Environmental Protection Authority, the Ghana National Fire Service, The TMA, The National Schools Inspectorate Authority, NaSIA, The National Pensions Regulatory Authority and The Department of Labour inspected various facets of our school’s operations and gave us a clean bill of health.
MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS IN THE YEAR 2025/2026.
During the year under scrutiny, the following successes were chalked:
On the academic front, the school won the 1st position prizes in the Primary and JHS Categories of the Hard Spell Contest organised at the Tema Zonal and the Greater Accra Regional levels by a reputable education development consultancy christened, “Edupro Concepts.” By extension, the school placed 2nd and and 3rd respectively in the Primary and JHS Categories of the same contest organised at the National level at the University of Cape Coast in October, 2025. Ladies and gentlemen, I am absolutely enthralled to report that 3 of our spellers have qualified for the African Spelling Bee Championship slated for Harare, Zimbabwe in September this year, while 43 of our spellers have also booked their tickets for the World Spelling Championship scheduled for Dubai in October this year. On an occasion such as this, it is imperative that Management applauds two facilitators of our school, Mr. Daniel Asiedu and Miss Mercy Asamany, whose superlative coaching prowess culminated in the school’s victory in the competitions. Similarly, we doff our hats for all our students who participated through the preliminary to the final stages of the competition and for making Creator Schools proud. In the same vein, we applaud our parents who supported our spellers financially to take part in the competition.
Esteemed guests, ladies and gentlemen. In the course of the academic year, our Red Cross Club brought honour to the school when it was adjudged the Best Red Cross Club in the Greater-Accra Region for the year, 2025, and Mr. Prosper Kweku Nsiah Aidoo, the Coordinator of the club befitingly recognized as the Best Red Cross Coach for the year, 2025 in acknowledgement of his super duper contributions towards the promotion of Red Cross activities in the region. Beyond this, I feel excited to report that the Creator Schools Red Cross Club was the only club in the Greater Accra Region to have been selected to perform some first-aid simulation exercises on the high profile occasion of the International Red Cross Day celebration observed on 8th May, 2026 at the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons, Accra.
Honourable Chairperson. One notable achievement which is worth mentioning and celebrating is that Creator School received a prestigious award for being the Topmost Disciplined Private School in Ghana for the year, 2025. This historic honour was conferred on the school by The West Africa International Press, publishers of the West Africa International Magazine, at a colourful Awards’ ceremony named “HEROES OF DISTINCTION AWARDS” held at the Accra City Hotel on 22nd April, 2026. The school received a plaque of honour and a certificate of recognition.
LEGACY PROJECT OF THE YEAR
Beloved parents, I am on cloud nine to inform you that a huge underground mechanized water reservoir has been constructed by the school to harvest rain water with a view to augmenting the irregular supply of water to the school by the Ghana Water Company Limited.
CHALLENGES
Honourable Chairperson, ladies and gentlemen. Creator Schools, like all human institutions, cannot claim to be insulated against challenges. We live within a global digital ecosystem where the use of digital tools like smart phones by learners cannot be relegated to the periphery. However, the chronic addiction to and the unrestrained consumption of some social media content by a lot of children of school age, including some of our own learners, is a terrifying phenomenon that needs to be tackled headlong. Some of our learners often say ɛthat they get tired when they study beyond 7.00 PM. Ironically, these same children have a reservoir of energy that sustains their daily nocturnal flights on social media. Disturbingly, many a parent looks on helplessly as their children permissively spend man hours after school either chatting frivolously with their peers, blindly following their social media role models, gleefully uploading, posting and sharing materials that can corrupt their morals. Consequently, no meaningful studies take place at home before and after school. It is all about feeding the mind and heart with a dossier of lurid images and entertainment-related materials on music, movies and sheer unrefined speech from some so-called celebrities. The net effect is that learners become intrinsically demotivated to study. Home assignments are returned to school undone and intentional learning is replaced by little learning which is dangerous. This is certainly a recipe for academic disaster. Unfortunately, the school stands to bear the brunt of criticism from parents when such learners eventually perform below par academically. It is about time parents and school authorities co-operated meaningfully, as was the norm in the days of yesteryear, to curtail or keep this cancerous behaviour at bay.
It must be emphasized that extracurrricular activities constitute an important component of our learners’ holistic educational experience. These activities in the school such as baseball skills, robotics and cadet drills which some learners have a very strong passion for, are often organised in the afternoons after the close of school. Unfortuntely, some impatient parents who are in a hurry to get home rave and rant and sometimes confrontationally whisk their children away during training sessions at club meetings. Such parental decisions not only stifle the talents of our learners but also lower their self-esteem and affect the complete acquisition of the skills set and training modules designed for the programmes. Management urges the need for dialogue over hostility.
Secondly, the incessant delay in the payment of school fees or the decision by some parents not to pay their children’s fees at all has become a termly ritual that remains a hard nut to crack in the school, in spite of the stress-free window of opportunity which exists for our valued parents to pay their children’s fees on instalmental basis. Some parents use unprintable words on the school management when demands are made on them for school fees. This is deeply worrying. Such a practice is absolutely indefensible.
Honourable Chairperson, ladies and gentlemen. We are today passing out our candidates who took the 2026 BECE a couple of weeks ago. We are very optimistic that by God’s grace, all our students will emerge triumphant in the examinations and become worthy ambassadors of the school in their various institutions of learning.
Honourable Chairman. As I bring my report to an end, I will to say to the ultimate glory to our sovereign Lord that this is Creator Schools, a school founded on and driven by Godly principles ; a school endowed with a purpose-driven Board and management ; a school of highly trained and ethical standards compliant teachers ; a school where with a solid infrastructure base and above all, a school where we nurture our cherished and promising learners for a promising future based on the tenets of our all-embracing core values.
