A SPEECH BY MR. BEKOE MARK YIRENKYI, HEADMASTER, CREATOR SCHOOLS, TEMA, TO MARK THE 30TH GRADUATION, SPEECH AND PRIZE- GIVING DAY OF CREATOR SCHOOLS. 19TH JULY, 2025.
Our Eminent Chairperson for this momentous occasion, Rev. Dr. Joseph-Logos Nii Odai, Rev. Evelyn Gyampa Markin, The Innovative and seasoned M. D of Creator Schools, Mrs. Henrietta Aning, Our Proactive Board Member and Director in Charge of our prestigious Preschool Department, Our Esteemed and Motherly Tema Metro Director of Education, Management Team Members present, Our Distinguished Clergy persons and other august guests, PTA Executive Members, Mr. Daniel Amuah, The Immediate Past Headmaster of Creator Schools, Noble facilitators, Cherished Parents and Guardians, Victorious Graduating Class of 2025, Pacesetting Old students seated, Continuing students and Pupils with a promise, Ladies and Gentlemen.
By God’s grace, the mantle of leadership has fallen on me as the Headmaster of Creator Schools to deliver my maiden speech on this special occasion, commemorating the 30th Graduation, Speech and Prize-Giving Day of this great school, a twinned graduation event that ushers our Nursery 2 learners into KG in the 2025/2026 Academic Year and officially ends the academic relationship between our JHS 3 graduands and Creator Schools.
May I clinge unto the wings of this ceremony to heartily salute my hardworking predecessor and immediate past Headmaster, Mr. Daniel Amuah for his good works.
Creator Schools is indeed a quintessential example of an organisation that rewards unwavering loyalty, hardwork and competence.
Respected Chair, I will like to use the platform of this auspicious occasion to pledge my unflinching resolve to discharge my duties to the best of my abilities. Team work, the promotion of academic excellence and the uncompromising enforcement of discipline shall be the cornerstone of my administration.
Since a single finger cannot form a fist, I humbly ask that all stakeholders, Management, teachers, parents and learners, throw their weight behind me so that together, we propel Creator schools to dizzying heights of success.
Ladies and Gentlemen. On a significant 30th Graduation milestone such as this, it is important that we honour the memory of the vision bearer of this great school, Rev. Comfort Chemfe Adjarko, and all other staff members and parents who had passed on to eternal glory a couple of years back. May the good Lord keep all our beloved departed souls in peace.
Distinguished audience. Our theme for today’s ceremony, “Pioneering Excellence in Education Through Initiative and Hard work,” is firmly anchored on two strands of our school’s 6 point core values titled, ” Great Creatorian, My Values.” I would like to request you, my lovely students, to be on your feet as we recite our school’s all-embracing values in the hearing of our special Guests.
Are we ready? Alright, let’s get started.
Great Creatorian, my values.
I stand for a clean environment,
I stand for Honesty,
I stand for Discipline,
I stand for Neatness and proper dressing
I stand for Initiative and hardwork,
I live for prayer, the word of God and Worship.
Thank you. Please be seated, maintain your composure and remain absolutely quiet.
Distinguished personalities. Without the least intention to take the wind out of the sail of our well-informed Guest Speaker, I will like to say that Management’s decision to inculcate the virtues of initiative in our learners, by relying on our school core values as a mechanism, had been occasioned by the realization that the virtues of INITIATIVE, where an individual does something positive without being prompted to do so, has been jettisoned in our society over the years and in its place, the canker of apathy steadily eating deep into every facet of our social life.
This grim reality is aptly supported by the theme on apathy espoused in a five stanza short old Ghanaian elementary school poem titled MR. NOBODY, which involves 4 characters namely
- EVERYBODY
- SOMEBODY,
- ANYBODY AND
- NOBODY.
Reverend Chairman, with your kind permission, I recite the poem.
THERE WAS AN IMPORTANT WORK TO BE DONE AND EVERYBODY WAS SURE THAT SOMEBODY WOULD DO IT.
ANYBODY COULD HAVE DONE IT, BUT NOBODY DID IT.
SOMEBODY GOT ANGRY ABOUT IT THAT IT WAS EVERYBODY’S JOB, and
EVERYBODY THOUGHT ANYBODY COULD DO IT, BUT NOBODY REALISED THAT EVERYBODY WOULD DO IT.
IT ENDED UP THAT EVERYBODY BLAMED SOMEBODY WHEN NOBODY DID WHAT ANYBODY COULD HAVE DONE.
Ladies and gentlemen. At Creator Schools, we keep track of learners who display a sense of initiative and reward them accordingly as we will be doing today.
On the other hand, the virtue of hardwork found a slot on our school value code because we are saddled with a pathetic reality as a school where some current generation of learners want to be successful academically, but wouldn’t want to pay the price of working hard for their success. Proverbially, they desire to reap with joy but wouldn’t want to sow in tears. Such learners find it extremely difficult to burn the midnight candle yet with unrestrained pleasure, burn the night away on social media platforms like Tiktok and WhatsApp and come to school with heavy eyes.
Ironically, many students virtually worship their phones and spend hours on end chatting unproductively on Facebook, while their note and textbooks are left unattended to. Some other learners do not touch their books at all until some few hours to examinations. Procrastination at it its pinnacle. For some, learning beyond school hours at home is an abomination. How can such students excel academically? It must be emphasized that books, by themselves, don’t go to people to be read : people must make a conscious effort to take books to read and absorb the body of knowledge embedded in the belly of books.
It is instructive to note that success attained by dint of hard work gives one a sense of self-fulfilment.
At Creator Schools, we reward hard work on occasions such as this to serve as a morale booster to the beneficiaries and also as a wake up call to those who adopt a lackerdaisical attitude towards school work to turn over a new leaf.
I will like to urge our learners to work hard, for hardwork does not break bones, but earn an individual societal respect and leads to personal growth and development.
As the adage goes,”
“A HARDWORKING MAN IS MORE HONOURABLE THAN A LAZY MAN OR A ROGUE WITH A CROWN. ”
May I humbly intimate that the task of grooming our learners to behave properly and psyching them up to study intentionally are onerous responsibilities which cannot be shouldered single handedly by our teachers. I will, therefore, kindly entreat our beloved parents to complement the school’s effort at inculcating the virtues of hard work and initiative in our children at home, for the home is the child’s prime agent of socialization. Charity, indeed, begins at home.
Distingushed personalities. We commenced the 2024/2025 Academic year on the operational theme, ” PURSUING EXCELLENCE.” and without doubt, a lot of water had gone under the bridge in the school since the beginning of the academic year which officially terminates on 24th July, 2025.
I hereby present an abridged report on the following areas of endeavour:
ACADEMIC WORK: It is heartwarming to report that our facilitators utilized their instructional hours judiciously, a goal which was realized primarily due to their sense of duty and Management’s robust internal supervisory machinery which was set in motion, full swing. A number of parents whose children had learning challenges were invited to discuss remedial measures for an improved performance.
Besides, The Academic Board organized a seminar on learning for our Basic 7, 8 and 9 students to equip them with appropriate learning strategies.
It is refreshing to report that all our candidates who participated in the 2024 BECE gained admission into various senior high and TVET institutions. Besides, we are deeply honoured to hear that a lot of our products in the various second cycle schools, whose progress we monitor, are lifting aloft the flag of Creator Schools.
Moreover, we painstakingly prepared this year’s graduating class of 70 students for the 2025 BECE and are optimistic that by God’s grace, resounding success shall crown their efforts.
Ladies and gentlemen. William Shakespeare once said and I quote, “READING MAKETH A MAN.” As a planned measure to inculcate the habit of reading in our learners, Management intends to resuscitate the school’s flagship daily morning reading programme, LIBRARY TIME with effect from the 1st Term of the 2025/2026 academic year. Under this scheme, each learner from KG 2 through Basic 6 will be compelled to read 3 story books in a year : one book each term and a written test conducted on the books so read at the end of each term. I respectfully entreat parents to get their children to school early so that they can benefit from this laudable academic initiative.
EXTRA-CURRICULAR, EMPOWERMENT AND SENSITIZATION ACTIVITIES: During the period under review, we started our Robotics programme as part of our club activities to arouse the interest of our learners in STEM Education. Other club activities related to Red Cross, Music and Dance, Home Gardening, Cadet drills, Maths and Science and Flora were pursued to help learners unearth their inate potentials beyond the core curriculum. To give our learners first-hand knowledge and experience related to the curriculum, a number of class-based field trips were undertaken to some historical, technological and industrial heritage sites. The euphoria that the trips engendered among learners defies description.
Moreover, our students from Basic 6 through Basic 8 were introduced to Leadership Seminars to equip them with basic leadership skills for life. The programme, which is the initiative of the school Management and organized on fortnightly basis, had personalities such as the MD of our school, Rev. Mrs. Evelyn Markin, Mr. Prosper Afetsi, Director of the Foundation for Generational Thinkers (FOGET), and Rev. Emmanuel Obodai, a clergy person and Counsellor, featuring as Resource persons.
Besides, officials from the National Commission for Civic Education organized a sensitization programmes for our JHS students on their Civic Rights and Responsibilities.
FACILITATORS AND PARENTS’ ENGAGEMENT (FPEs)/OPEN DAY: Class-based interactions involving Facilitators and Parents, and sometimes with the inclusion of learners, were held for all the classes from Preschool 1through JHS 3 to deliberate on issues related to the academic and moral development of our learners. The discussions were fruitful. As part of the school’s Open Door Policy, an OPEN DAY was organised for parents to peruse their children’s school work and to share ideas on their strengths and weaknesses.
May I, at this juncture, on behalf of the school Management, commend you, our valued parents, for choosing Creator Schools for your children’s education. Thank you parents for your abiding loyalty towards the Creator brand. Management would like to assure you that the school will not take your fidelity for granted, but work hand in hand with you, in the spirit of mutual trust and respect, to promote the welfare of our learners, which is supreme.
CONTINUOUS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMMES: In order to sharpen the pedagogical competences of our staff, our facilitators benefited from some internal and external capacity building workshops organized under the auspices of the GES, Tema Metro Directorate, the Ghana National Association of Private Schools (GNAPS) and some private educational consultancies.
EXTERNAL WORK INSPECTIONS. In the course of the year, a team of inspectors from regulatory agencies such as the GES, The TMA, Department of Social Welfare and The National Schools Inspectorate Authority (NaSIA) inspected various segments of our school’s operations. I am elated to report that the inspection teams were pleased with their observations and gave Creator Schools thumps up for its excellent performance in almost all the Key Performance Indicators related to infrastructure, sanitation, record keeping, safety, conducive classroom environment and academic work.
ACHIEVEMENTS: Reverend Chairman, to the glory of God, the school chalked some successes which are worthy of mention. In the first place, our School Cadet Corp, which is undergoing rejuvenation with pupils from Basic 5 and 6, placed 2nd in the Cadet Drill Competition organised by the Tema GES Directorate on 4th March, 2025 to commemorate Ghana’s 68th Independence Anniversary.
In a related development, the same cadet contingent placed 7th in the 2025 Greater Accra Regional Inter- Basic School Cadet Drill Contest organised at Burma Camp, Accra, involving 14 schools.
The Cadet Corp deserves our applause.
Furthermore, the Schools’ Spelling Bee team clinched the 1st position slots for both the Primary and JHS Categories in the ongoing Tema Zone Spelling Bee Contest being organised by EDUPRO CONCEPTS. It is our fervent conviction that our contestants would cruise to the grand finals and win the ultimate national Spelling Bee Trophy.
Distinguished patrons, ladies and gentlemen. On a more rewarding note, I am filled with immeasurable joy to announce to you that Creator Schools has been adjuged the MOST OUTSTANDING JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL FOR THE YEAR 2024. The prestigious award was conferred on the school on 4th July, 2025, by Achievers’ International Awards, a nationally acclaimed achievements awarding institution, in recognition of Creator Schools immense contributions towards the delivery of quality education in Ghana over the past four decades. We are exceptionally honoured by this great achievement, which we dedicate to the overeign Lord, the memory of our visionary departed Founder, Rev. Comfort Chemphe Adjarko, and the entire Creator Schools fraternity.
CHALLENGES: Rev. Chairman. The chief perennial challenge which Management is confronted with borders on the lukewarm attitude of some parents towards the payment of school fees. Despite the window of opportunity which exists for parents to pay their children’s fees on scheduled instalmental basis, a number of parents do not follow the payment plan and are consequently in arrears of huge school fees, running into thousands of Cedis.
Some defaulting parents painfully withdraw their children unceremoniously from the school without weighing the moral and spiritual ramifications such actions may have on their children in future.
Management ,therefore, entreats parents to pay their children’s fees promptly to keep the financial wheels of the school running smoothly.
Rev. Chairman, Ladies and gentlemen. I would like to end my speech by saying that Creator Schools is unshakably on its feet and our learners are in good hands. We shall continuously be guided by our
VISION
* TO BE AN OUTSTANDING SCHOOL THAT TRAINS HEARTS AND MINDS FOR EXCELLENT ACADEMIC AND MORAL STANDARDS IN ALL SPHERES OF LIFE
AND OUR MISSION
* TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE TRAINING OF DISCIPLINED, MORALLY ASTUTE AND WELL-INFORMED PERSONS EQUIPPED FOR FURTHER TRAINING TO MEET THE CHALLENGES OF THEIR SOCIETY.
Our Core Values are indelibly inscribed on our hearts and our motto, “THE WISE SEEK KNOWLEGDE” shall continue to be our spiritual navigational compass.
Beloved parents, I am very excited to inform you that Creator Schools has a brand new 30-seater capacity Toyota Coaster bus to facilitate the commutal needs of our learners to and from school and for educational trips
Thank you for the wonderful opportunity of addressing you.
