Creator Schools Electoral Commission had the singular honour and onus to unearth students with leadership skills to take over the mantle for the 2023/2024 academic year. The commission had the onus to oversee free and fair transparent elections aimed at producing able leaders to run the affairs of the school for the year under review. The Commission consist of teachers who uphold democratic principles and are desirous of promoting the practice of the tenets of democracy in our beloved school with the primary objective of selecting capable and deserving student leaders.
ELECTION DAY
The commission replicated the modus operandi of the national election in substance and in form by bringing all materials used in the national elections for our domestic electoral exercise. The voters were given voter education on how to cast their votes from one screen to the other and how to slot their thumb printed ballot papers into the box. The importance of elections was forcefully explained to them. In the words of an observer It was a “microcosm of the macrocosm”. The materials secured for the exercise included the voting screens, thumb pads, indelible ink, reflectors, transparent ballot boxes among others: the exact materials used in our national elections. The commission created an independent internal election observers group whose job it was too criticize the process and to perfect the process the next time.
